Sunday Soul Reconnect: Embodied Dru Movement and the Enneagram
“Our human machine is dirty,
in places it is rusty, and in some places artificial appliances have been formed.”
- P. D. Ouspensky
In our quest to look like lovable, “successful” adults, we have unknowingly constructed boundaries in our lives. These boundaries or “bypasses” have kept us safe and away from the pain of life, but these “work-arounds” isolate us from REAL life. Ouspensky called these “mental anesthetic”.
Anesthetic, because we have fallen asleep to working with the tougher parts of life. Over the course of our lives, we can become adept at shutting our eyes to our own foibles, at avoiding unpleasant truths, at constantly lying to yourselves, at self-justification, and at blaming others.
By pouring our energy into distractions, we run out of energy to receive and process our lives. All humans are called to process our lives so that they human race can evolve, but there is no growth if we are numb to life. We just end up feeling empty and wonder what the meaning of life is.
Over ten Sunday mornings we will learn how to wake up and call home the most sensitive and beautiful parts of ourselves so that we may once again feel complete. By knowing and receiving the subtle heart impulses, that may sometimes scare us, we will develop new resilience and a new capacity for life. In our time together we will grow our own unique Soul qualities that are so needed in our world right now.
Come reconnect with your Soul qualities by engaging your intellectual and feeling centres. Dru yoga postures will enliven our vital, body centre. With all three awakened a new awareness can sprout.
Dru Grounding my Body’s Wisdom
Dru meditations and yoga techniques, are inspired by the teachings of Francis of Assisi and Mahatma Gandhi. Dru comes from the Sanskrit word dhruva which means ‘coming to a still point’. Using Dru techniques we will, not only engage our heads and our hearts in new teachings, but we will also embody these teachings, thereby anchoring the wisdom.
